My writing career technically begins when a poem I wrote at seven years old about a lizard, which made it to the pages of a kids’ poetry collection. Although The Crystal Lizard is long lost somewhere in storage, I continued the momentum from My Big Break by devoting myself to writing from thereon out. And thus I found myself completing a Bachelor in Communications, majoring in Journalism, at RMIT – where I was first introduced to integrated communications and how to craft the words at the heart of it all.
From there, I spent some time in public relations at leading Melbourne agencies before diving into the city’s independent media industry as a writer and editor. That’s when I sharpened up my red pen and got my story angles laser-focused for print, while overseeing their digital and social media operations to reach audiences online.
Next up I stepped into agency world, joining one of the country’s top independent integrated communications agencies as a writer and creative on major accounts across the government, healthcare and NFP sectors. I did my thing on full-funnel campaigns, connecting with audiences via projects spanning film, social media, digital, events and editorial content.
Then came the call to uproot my life and try living abroad – and I answered. And so it came to be that I moved to Copenhagen, Denmark, where I bemoaned the cold climate but thrived professionally as copywriter at a healthcare communications agency belonging to a multi-award-winning network, one of Europe’s finest. Here I led creative ideation and copywriting in campaigns for major global clients in health and medicine like GSK, Novo Nordisk and Philips.
Then I felt the call to move again, but this time it was summoning me homeward. This brings us to the present moment: I have freshly returned to Melbourne and am looking for my next gig. I’m all about strategic, integrated communications and am hoping to find the perfect place to make that happen. Might that be with you?
